Fond (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website fond.kitchen and the Fond application. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it.

What we collect

Waitlist & account

When you join our waitlist or create an account, we collect your email address. We use it solely to send you product updates and early access invitations. We never sell or share your email with third parties.

Usage analytics

We use PostHog to collect anonymous usage data (pages visited, button clicks, device type). This helps us understand how people use the site and improve it. PostHog is self-hosted in the EU. We do not use Google Analytics.

Recipe & meal data

When you use the Fond app, your recipes, meal plans, and shopping lists are stored to provide the service. This data belongs to you. You can export or delete it at any time.

Cookies

We use a minimal set of cookies:

  • Authentication cookie — keeps you signed in
  • Theme preference — remembers light/dark mode (stored in localStorage)
  • PostHog analytics — anonymous session tracking

We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.

How we use your data

  • To provide and improve the Fond service
  • To send waitlist updates and product announcements
  • To fix bugs and understand usage patterns

We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with data brokers.

Data storage & security

Data is stored on encrypted servers. We use HTTPS for all connections. Access to production systems is restricted to the founding team.

Your rights

You can at any time:

  • Access your data by exporting from the app
  • Delete your account and all associated data
  • Unsubscribe from emails via the link in every message
  • Request a copy of your data by emailing us

Third-party services

  • PostHog — analytics (EU-hosted)
  • Cloudflare — hosting and CDN
  • Resend — transactional email delivery

Children

Fond is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Significant changes will be communicated via email to registered users. The “last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
