Frequently Asked Questions
The conversion depends on the ingredient because different ingredients have different densities. For example, 1 cup of all-purpose flour weighs about 125g, while 1 cup of sugar weighs about 200g. Select the ingredient above for accurate results.
Volume measures how much space something takes up, while weight measures how heavy it is. A cup of feathers weighs much less than a cup of lead. Similarly, a cup of flour (125g) weighs much less than a cup of honey (340g).
Fluid ounces (fl oz) measure volume, while ounces (oz) measure weight. They are not the same: 1 fl oz of water weighs about 1.04 oz. For other ingredients, the difference can be much larger.
To convert Celsius to Fahrenheit: multiply by 9/5 and add 32. To convert Fahrenheit to Celsius: subtract 32 and multiply by 5/9. Common baking temps: 180°C = 356°F, 200°C = 392°F, 350°F = 177°C.
