Asdine is a software engineer and co-founder of Fond. He's spent most of his career on the unglamorous end of software — databases, sync engines, offline-first systems — the kind of infrastructure you only notice when it breaks.
At Fond he builds the pieces that make the app feel fast and quiet: the sync layer, the offline storage, the recipe parser, and the AI agent that learns how you cook. The stuff that should be invisible when it works.
He's also a home cook. Not a chef. He cooks most nights for himself and his partner, and reads food-science books (McGee, Modernist Cuisine) the way other engineers read distributed-systems papers — because he wants to understand why the thing he's building is the way it is.
He started Fond with Bastien because the existing recipe apps felt like clutter, and because cooking every day for years convinced both of them that the software should get out of the way.
